Signs You May Be Experiencing Burnout (And What to Do About It)

Burnout doesn’t always happen overnight. Most of the time, it builds slowly—day by day—until you feel emotionally exhausted, mentally drained, and physically depleted.

Here are common signs you may be experiencing burnout:

1. Constant Exhaustion

You feel tired even after rest. Sleep doesn’t feel refreshing anymore.

2. Irritability or Emotional Numbness

Small things frustrate you easily, or you feel like you don’t care about anything at all.

3. Loss of Motivation

Things you used to enjoy feel like chores.

4. Increased Anxiety or Overthinking

Your mind feels like it never shuts off.

5. Feeling Detached or Isolated

You withdraw from people because you feel overwhelmed.

6. Physical Symptoms

Headaches, stomach issues, muscle tension, and frequent illness can be connected to stress overload.

What You Can Do Today

Burnout is your body’s warning signal—it is not weakness.

Try these steps:

  • Set one small boundary today (even if it’s saying no once)
  • Take a 10-minute break away from screens
  • Drink water and eat something nourishing
  • Write down what is draining you the most
  • Talk to someone you trust
  • Seek coaching support if you feel stuck

Burnout is recoverable. You don’t have to live in survival mode.
